Discover Café de Fleur from Matagot

Universe

For countless years, the Café de Paris has offered moments of carefree relaxation and a wonderful opportunity to pause and breathe amid a bustling city. Unfortunately, the café must close for emergency renovation.

You have been asked to redesign the valuable parquet floor, embellishing it with stylish intarsias. In a contest, you must prove that you understand your craft better than your competitors.

If you manage to build the most valuable ornaments and still make good progress, you’ll be able to claim new tools and have a shot at securing the contract for the intricate inlay work.

Gameplay

A game of Café de Fleur is played in 3 rounds. At the beginning of each round, collect a card that gives you 10 color cards and jokers. These cards will then be used to pay for the different ornaments that you wish to place on your board.
These cards are the backbone of the game: in fact, the pieces that you are going to place need to be paid for with cards corresponding to the color of the outer frame of your rosette (the first piece that you place). Whatever the piece that you place, the cost will always be one and only one card.

Depending on the piece that you place, you will be required to discard a certain number of cards (between 1 and 4) and will always collect a corresponding number of cards that will balance the final cost to one card. For example, when you pay 1 card, you do not collect anything. When you pay 2 cards you get 1 card back and so on... However, the cards you get back from the draw piles must not be jokers or cards of the same color as the ones you used to pay for your ornament!

As soon as you no longer have any in hand or no longer wish to place any (you can keep up to three cards for the next round), you can pass your turn. The round ends when all players have passed their turn.

Will you succeed in brilliantly renovating the Café de Fleur floor and winning the game?
